MARGAO: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco in a letter to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has appealed to make the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) more student friendly by popularising it and also conducting it after the results of the final year exams are declared.
Pointing out that the first round was held on January 27, February 3 and 10 and the second round is scheduled to be held online only, he argued that since they are being held before the final year exam results are declared, students are put to a disadvantage.
He pointed out that GU-ART is only to rank the students performance and not to declare whether they have cleared the exams or not and based on the ranking students can take admission for the post graduate courses at Goa University or its affiliated colleges.
Aleixo said this system is not student friendly as not much awareness is created amongst the student community about this test and it is held before the results of the final year are declared and he argued that conducting the test before the final year results are declared demoralizes the student community.
Also pointing out that there are few post graduate seats available, he said Goan student should be facilitated in obtaining admissions to them instead of being demoralized as is happening at present.
