PANJIM: With 147 positive cases from Tulip Diagnostic alone, the Verna Industries Association immediate past President Damodar Kochkar calls it an “eye opener.”

Tulip Diagnostics is based in Verna Industrial Estate and all its seven units have been shut down.
Addressing a press conference, the former Verna Industries Association (VIA) President and now the President of the Goa State Industrial Association (GSIA) Damodar Kochkar mentioned that, “We never came to know until we got 147 positive results and they were all asymptomatic cases. We have shared the standard operating procedure (SOP) with the administration which we made and will adhere to all protocols and SOPs all over Goa.”
Kochkar also requested to have testing facility in association with State administration, identify shut down industries, COVIDcare centres for asymptomatic patients as well as hotels for stay of workers during transit time. “We also do not want the affected person to spread the virus in their villages,” added Kochkar. Kochkar said that the moment a worker was found infected, an entire batch was being tested and not sent home till the negative results arrived.
“I had requested the administration for having different categories of hotels. We also recommended that closed down industries that can be converted into Covid care centres for asymptomatic industry workers,” said the president of GSIA.
Kochkar added that since Verna industrial Estate already has a swab collection centre which can be put to optimum use and requested the State government to make it more pro-active and VIA will be willing to help for this cause.
