PANJIM: After holding a review meeting with Head of Departments (HoDs) regarding ‘Swayampurna Goem Abhiyan’ (SGA), Chief Minister held an awareness meeting for taluka nodal officers, Swayampurna Mitras (designated government officials) and Paryavekshakas (observers) at the Institute Menezes hall, Panjim on Thursday.
Chief Secretary Parimal Rai IAS and Principal Secretary Finance P K Goel were also present.
Earlier, at the first meeting, with select HoDs, the CM went over the delivery of schemes and services under SGA and directed officials to setup online facilitation and easy delivery of 10 focus points under the programme.
At the second meeting, Sawant guided the participants and said the government has launched its flagship programme of making Goa self-reliant from October 2020 and that it has geared up the State’s machinery to fulfil the objective.
“#SwaympurnaMitra’s are the torch bearers of our vision towards self sufficient and self sustaining Goa. Today, held an interaction with the officers designated as ‘Swayamapurna Mitra’ in various gram panchayats across the state. Understanding the experiences of Swayampurna Mitras and getting to know the progress from the officers on ground was the main purpose of today’s meeting. Have once again assured full support to achieve the dream of #SwayampurnaGoem,” Sawant posted on his official social media account.
At the meeting, Sawant said in order to accomplish the cherished ‘Swayampurna’ dream, the officers who have been assigned the task, need to be serious and work out the way to get the desired work done.
“Making Goa self-reliant means helping the needy people in the State. The State is dependent on neighbouring States for various goods and this was exposed during the period of pandemic,” CM said addressing the participants.
He stressed the need to overcome this situation by working in the proper direction.
He suggested that the officers collect basic data from various sources in the villages.
The CM lamented that although the State is celebrating 60 years of liberation, there are of people who are not able to get their basic amenities fulfilled.
He said this is the area they have to work on and that the government has listed 10 basic amenities which are required to be made available to all and needy people.
These are water for all; shelter for all; toilet for all; PM Kisan card; Kisan credit card; soil health card; electricity for all; Griha Aadhaar; DDSSY scheme and insurance,” said Sawant.
He appealed to the participants to submit their suggestions in regards of fulfilling the objective of Swayampurna Goa, which could be considered in the larger interest of the State.
