Malbhat locals vow justice for murdered villager Clemente

MARGAO: Malbhatcars rallied behind the family of 40-year old Clemente Gomes, who was found murdered at Curtorim exactly a week ago, with speakers vowing not to rest till justice is done to the family.
A meeting convened by the Voice of Malbhat on Sunday evening at Malbhat highlighted the host of issues plaguing Malbhat area of the commercial capital and demanded action by the authorities. They have appealed to the people of Malbhat to cooperate with the investigating agency in napping the culprits responsible for Clemente’s murder.
Speaking on the occasion, Clemente’s sister Maxy said that incident like that of tragic death of his brother should not recur in Malbhat in the future, even as she profusely thanked the people of the locality in seeking justice for the family.
In his address, BJP leader Rupesh Mahatme said that Clemente’s murder should come as an eye opener for the people of Malbhat as well as the authorities. He said its time for introspection by  the people of Malbhat as a number of incidents have taken place in the locality in recent times.
Another BJP leader Naveen Raikar underlined the need for Malbhatcars to unite and face the challenges before them. He said the people will not rest till justice is done to the Gomes family and the killers arrested. He appealed to the people to cooperate in identifying the killers and to provide clue, if any, to the investigating agency.
In his address, president of Voice of Malbhat Elvis Fernandes gave an account of the activities carried out  by the organisation since it was launched to clean up Malbhat of the illegalities. He said that panic stricken residents of the locality fear to walk on the road between the Old railway station and new railway station in view of the prevailing environment and briefed them on inspection carried out by the police officers for a first hand information on the situation at Malbhat.
The meeting appreciated the efforts made by the police to get the killers of Clemente arrested and called upon the people to cooperate with the police to crack the murder case.
