Male body found in highly decomposed state at Guirim

PANJIM: A male body was found in a highly decomposed state at Sarvewada, Guirim, on Friday, March 29.

It was the locals who spotted the body and then informed the Mapusa Police. The police officials rushed to the spot and found that the body was in a highly decomposed condition beyond recognition.

The police suspected that the body could be of a person who had gone missing on March 6. However, its identification is yet to be done. The body was sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, Mapusa Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar told O Heraldo that DNA test would be conducted to ascertain identity of the deceased.

Further investigation is under progress, he said.
