Malim jetty workers return to native homes

With the fishing ban lasting for 61 days, the locals will now have to depend on other States and local fishermen for the fish on their platter

PANJIM: With the ban on fishing in the State during the monsoon commencing from June 1, the labourers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and other States working on fishing trawlers have started to return back to their native places. 

Most of the workers have already departed while a few workers at Malim Jetty, who were waiting till the last week, have also begun their return journey.

With the fishing ban lasting for 61 days, the locals will now have to depend on other States and local fishermen for the fish on their platter.
