SATTARI: Maloli villagers have complained that the anganwadi in the village is still in a dilapidated condition despite complaints to local MLA Vishwajit Rane and sarpanch Prashant Marathe to repair the rural child care centre.

“Rane visits our village during the election, we have urged him to ensure that the anganwadi is repaired and maintained. The MLA has been promising us that he will construct an e-learning anganwadi in our village, but soon after the elections are over, all the promises remain unfulfilled,” the villagers complained.

Gauri Harwalkar, a local said, “Our village anganwadi is in a bad condition for the past few years. Presently, the anganwadi is operating from a small rented room, where the children are facing several problems.”

“The roof of child care centre is broken and the plaster has peeled off. We have asked the panchayat to carry out the repair work. Our sarpanch keeps telling us that the anganwadi repair work has been tendered and the same will start soon. However, till date the repair work has not commenced yet,” complained another villager Pandurang Harwalkar.

“The RDA has constructed the over 40 anganwadis in the villages across the State and till date the authority has not handed over these child care centres to the Department of Women and Child Development. We have carried out the process of handing over the anganwadi. The PWD has taken up the repair work of anganwadi at Maloli,” sarpanch Prashant Marathe informed.

It is pertinent to note the anganwadi in Maloli was inaugurated in 1999 by the then Speaker Pratapsing Rane.

in the presence of then Valpoi MLA Venkatesh Desai.
