PERNEM: The road from Malpem junction to the electricity department’s office, in Pernem, has turned into a death trap.
The road was dug up to lay underground power cables which led to the collapse of the gutter which was parallel to the road.
The stones and rocks have come onto the road which is causing grave inconvenience and posing danger to the motorists as well as the pedestrians.
The locals are demanding that the PWD should pay immediate attention and repair the road.
With the monsoon in full flow, locals have expressed fear of the road caving in, if necessary steps are not taken. “It is as if a gutter has come up right in the middle of the road,” an agitated local said. Due to the mud and stones the water is flowing directly on the respective road from the national highway.
