BICHOLIM: Bicholim Mamlatdar Madhu Narvekar on Wednesday conducted the site inspection of mining area at Shirgao following complaints from the locals about dust pollution caused due to ore transportation endangering health of locals.
Last week, irate Shirgao villagers had blocked the ore transportation to protest the lackadaisical attitude of the company in adopting precautionary measures to control the dust pollution.
Following this development, Narvekar conducted site inspection of the Shirgao mining area. He was accompanied by Sarpanch Sadanand Gaonkar and panch Atchut Gaonkar. Officials of mining company were also present along with large number of villagers.
After conducting the site inspection mamlatdar has assured to hold talks with the mining company to direct them to combat dust pollution.
Meanwhile, Narvekar also inspected the collapsed retaining wall at Muddiwada Shirgao where he informed the panchayat authorities that he had already moved the file before the PWD and directed them to reconstruct the retaining wall.
