Mamledar calls for court monitored MGP elections

Says fair elections will get rid of Dhavalikar brothers’ hold over party

PANJIM: Lavoo Mamledar, the expelled former MGP general secretary, has decided to move the High Court of Bombay at Goa pleading that the organizational election of the party be held under its observation.
Addressing media persons on Saturday, Mamledar said that the election to appoint fresh central committee under a new president is due before December 2019. “Before that I am moving the Court pleading that the elections be held under Court observation,” he said.
Holding Dhavalikar brothers — Sudin and Deepak — responsible for MGP’s lack of growth as political outfit, Mamledar said that his objective is to free the State’s oldest political party from the hold of the Dhavalikar brothers.
He said that the Dhavalikar brothers don’t believe in democracy and have converted MGP, founded by Bahusaheb Bandodkar into “Majo Gharcho Paksh”.
The former MLA also claimed that the Dhavalikar brothers have created fear among the workers and party members, who though want to ouster the Dhavlikars, prefer silence. “There are many Central committee members and workers who do not believe in the ideology of the Dhavalikars. But fearing for life, they are forced not to raise their voice,” he said.
Mamledar said that the results of Shiroda assembly by-elections, where Deepak is contesting on MGP ticket, will give clear indication on the political future of the Dhavalikar brothers. “Shiroda election result is going to be end of Dhavalikar era,” he said.
