PANJIM: The Panjim police have registered a case against a man for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage and also took Rs 3 lakh from her.
The 27-year-old victim in her complaint stated that the accused person (name withheld) on the pretext of marriage with the complainant had sexual intercourse with her on various occasions between July 2022 to March 10, 2024 and later refused to marry her. The accused also took cash of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant and further refused to repay the money and abused her with filthy language. The accused also assaulted the complainant with slaps, when she tried to convince him to marry her, the victim has stated in her complaint.
The Panjim police have registered the case against the accused under Sections 376, 420, 504 and 323 of IPC in this connection. Lady PSI Sapna Gawas is investigating the case under the guidance of Panjim PI Vijaykumar Chodankar.
