In a disturbing incident, 47-year-old Dattatray Chavan from Maharashtra was apprehended by Konkan Railway Police for allegedly committing an inappropriate act in the presence of a sleeping girl. The incident took place on the Purna Express as it neared Gokarna, Karnataka. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was travelling with her friends from Kerala to Goa.
According to the police, two friends of the young woman observed the accused engaging in inappropriate behaviour, prompting them to swiftly report the incident to the railway emergency number. The accused was arrested by Konkan Railway Police, led by Police Inspector Sunil Gudlar and his team including ASI Gomes, HC Minguel Vaz, PC-Kuldeep Gaonkar, and LPC Neeta Kavlekar, upon the train’s arrival at Margao railway station.
This distressing event unfolded when the train reached Margaon station in Goa. The accused was reportedly seen unzipping his pants and engaging in indecent behaviour while the young woman was asleep. This reprehensible act has raised concerns about the safety and security of passengers during train journeys. Authorities are investigating the matter thoroughly to ensure justice is served for the victim. Passengers are urged to remain vigilant and report any such incidents promptly to the authorities to maintain the sanctity and safety of public transportation.
