MAPUSA: Anjuna police have arrested five persons in connection with an attempt to murder incident that happened on late Monday night.
According to SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, a complaint was lodged by an AC technician Sohail Salim Shaikh (24) presently residing at Assagao and native of Wadala East, Mumbai, informing that on Monday he along with his friend Wasim Shaikh, also a native of Mumbai, were at the construction site when some workers under the influence of alcohol came towards them and one of them started vomiting. Further, when Wasim questioned them, all of a sudden they started physically assaulted the duo.
Sohail managed to escape, but the accused continued to beat up Wasim till he fell unconscious.
The complainant has suffered simple injuries but Wasim sustained major injuries. He is admitted to Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim and is in a very critical condition.
SDPO Dalvi further informed that upon receipt of complaint, immediately a team led by PI Prashal Desai of Anjuna police was despatched and all the accused persons were nabbed while they were trying to flee from Goa.
The accused persons are identified as Deepak Paswan, Roshan Paswan, Dishkant Paswan, Kishan Paswan and Sumit Kumar Shah all natives of Bhithsari, Begusarai, Bihar.
Police have registered an offence under sections 143, 147, 323, 307 of IPC.
PSI Dhiraj Devidas is further investigating the case.
