MARGAO: Benaulim witnessed uproar over dumping of waste along the roadside on Wednesday. After a local resident Roque Fernandes managed to track down the person who was responsible for dumping the waste in the village road side, the panchayat made him to clean up the entire stretch of the road of waste and garbage.
Sarpanch Remedious Fernandes later told the media that the incident occurred at around 12.30 pm when Roque found waste being dumped along the road side near a water body.
“Roque informed us about the waste dumping along the road side and we later told the accused to clear the entire road stretch of the waste. The matter was not reported to the police because the violators get away by paying a paltry fine,” he said.
