BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police have arrested a person from Vasantnagar-Sanquelim on charges of stealing a debit card and using it to pay Rs 22,550 at a restaurant.
According to reports, the incident occurred on July 17 at Hubli-Karnataka, when a man from Dharwad-Hubli used his ATM-cum-debit card to withdraw some money, but forgot to take back his card from the ATM machine.
The accused, Dawood P J Khan (34) from Vasantnagar-Sanquelim along with another person later entered the same ATM outlet and seized the debit card. They returned to Goa used and swiped the card in a restaurant in Karapur-Sanquelim.
When the victim received an SMS that Rs 22,550 had been withdrawn from his account, he immediately notified the bank and the police.
The Hubli police asked the victim to lodge a complaint at the Bicholim Police Station. Accordingly, a complaint was filed on July 20 and acting swiftly, Bicholim police arrested Khan from Vasantnagar-Sanquelim. Police is investigating the case.
