MARGAO: The Cuncolim police on Tuesday arrested Santosh Sutar, 30, for kidnapping and raping a minor girl. He was arrested from Calangute and the minor girl was rescued from there.
According to PSI Ravindra Velip, an offence has been registered under Section 363 (for kidnapping) and Section 376 (for rape) of the IPC along with Section 8(2) Goa Children’s Act and Section 4 of the POSCO Act.
Apparently, the minor girl’s parents had lodged a complaint with the police on Monday. During their investigation, the police traced the accused to Calangute and raided the place, rescuing the minor girl and nabbing the accused.
The girl has been handed over to her parents after a medical examination at the Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, said PI Diago Gracias.
