PANJIM: The Women’s Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for raping his stepdaughter earlier this year, resulting in her pregnancy.
The victim is a 15-year-old and was born out of his wife’s first marriage. As per the complaint, the incident occurred in January this year at Aldona and the girl was threatened by her stepfather to keep it under wraps, until NGO Childline was tipped off about the crime.
“Childline was given a tipoff that an underage girl was sexually assaulted by her stepfather. The girl was found to be pregnant. A medical examination on her confirmed she is five months pregnant. The NGO lodged a complaint and the accused was arrested,” said a police officer, investigating the case. The accused has a contract of collecting garbage.
