VASCO: Vasco Police late Monday night arrested one Ganesh Harijan on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl at Baina.
The victim’s brother told Vasco Police that the accused had taken the girl to his house on the pretext of being called by her relatives, where he wrongfully confined her and later sexually assaulted her on Monday. Harijan was reported to be absconding, but was arrested at New Vaddem.
Speaking to Herald, Vasco PSI John Fernandes said Harijan was absconding after committing the crime. “The police kept a strict watch at Baina and neighbouring areas to prevent him from running away. At about 11 pm we got information that the accused was seen at New Vaddem,” he informed.
Fernandes said the police rushed to New Vaddem and nabbed Harijan and later placed him under arrest.
As far as medical report of the minor girl was concerned, Fernandes said the opinion by the doctors is reserved for further examination. Harijan has been remanded to three days PC.
