MARGAO: Margao police arrested 45-year-old Sharif Shaikh for allegedly stabbing his niece with a knife at Navelim on Thursday afternoon.
Police said Sharif, who visited the house of his 20-year-old niece Jennifer Kalahatti in an inebriated condition, entered into argument with her and later stabbed her with a knife. Jennifer, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to the South Goa District Hospital and later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim where she is undergoing treatment.
Police conducted the panchanama and registered an offence under relevant Sections of the IPC.
“We will recover the weapon used by the accused,” police said.
