Porvorim: The Porvorim police detained Mohammad Sadiq, 26, Bhatkal for moving in a suspicious manner at Betim. When inquired, the accused admitted to robbing a house along with two of his accomplices.
As per the police, they received a call on Saturday about a man who was wandering suspiciously in Betim. After being detained, the accused said that he stole gold and other belongings worth Rs 50,000 from the house of local Maria Evalis D’Souza. His other two accomplices Khwaja Muhammad, 26 r/o Bhatkal and Ismail Karachi, 41 from Anavatti, Karnataka were also detained soon after.
The court has remanded all three to 5-day police custody and police have seized some of the stolen goods. PSI Pranita Mandrekar is further investigating the case under the guidance of SP Nidhin Walson, DySP Vishwesh Karpe and PI Anant Gaonkar.
