PONDA: A routine early morning walk ended in tragedy when a man was killed while his wife seriously injured after they were knocked down by a vehicle at Dharbandora in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to police reports, the incident took place at about 5 am, as Kamalsingh Olee (65) and his wife Badrakali (63), natives of Nepal but residing at Dharbandora, were on their morning walk toward the Sanjeevani Sugar Factory road.
They were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle, which was proceeding towards Dharbandora. The couple sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Primary Health Centre, from where they were shifted to the GMC hospital. Kamalsingh died while undergoing treatment at the GMC. Ponda police has registered an offence against unknown vehicle driver and is investigating the matter.
