MARGAO: A novel way of convening a “condolence meet” to sympathise with the dead landlines by three families from Mandopa forced the BSNL official to restore the same immediately.
The families said they convened the “condolence meet for the soul of phones” on Monday at 4.30 pm at the Mandopa Telephone Exchange. The families complained that every month the phones die and get “resurrected” by the grace of BSNL staff.
“Now months have passed the phones are dead. We have been complaining to the officials since April 2019. We have paid the bills for phone and Broadband but BSNL officials never did anything to restore the lines,” the families complained. Anastasio Eleuterio Carneiro, who is a member of the affected families said, “After sensing embarrassment, the BSNL official repaired the line on Monday evening. The protest needs to reach across Goa as there are several people across the State facing similar problems”.
Several people on social media platforms have seconded the claim of total failure on the part of the BSNL to maintain the lines. Mandopa Exchange has only three linesmen to man a huge area spread across four panchayats. The three families threatened to get their complaints redressed before the Consumer Forum which forced the official to resolve the same.
