Mandrem residents ask TCP to be cautious while granting permissions for constructions

Pernem: Residents of Mandrem on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Deputy Town Planner of Pernem requesting him not to issue TCP permission to any construction project without studying and carrying out site inspection.

In a memorandum submitted to Deputy town planner, members of Mandrem Swaraj Sanstha, Prasad Shahapurkar asked the deputy town planner that before granting approvals, his department should study the projects and conduct thorough site inspection.

Shahapurkar said that the officer should not approve the project sitting in office but instead study all the aspects and grant approval if it is feasible in all terms.

“TCP Clearance is an important permission that is required before commencement of any project. Mandrem is being concretised. The TCP department should take the panchayat and locals into confidence, conduct site inspections, and study the impact on ecology. Most of the projects are coming up after hills are destroyed and there is a need to study the impact of hill cutting,” another villager Jaganath Parsekar said.
