Mandrem VP issues stop work order on construction near temple

The sarpanch also said that the panchayat has passed a resolution to keep a setback of 10 meters from the Ajoba Temple however the concerned developer also failed to maintain the setback.

MANDREM: Initiating action against illegal encroachment, Mandrem Village panchayat on Saturday issued a stop work order notice to Satyam Thakral, a resident of Morjim who has undertaken construction near the Ajoba Temple, Ashwem.

The panchayat team led by Sarpanch Amit Sawant, local panch Kiran Sawant and Panchayat Secretary Amit Prabhu inspected the construction site on Saturday during which it was found that Thakral had violated the terms and conditions in the NOC. The sarpanch said that the panchayat and Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) had permitted ground floor construction only, however, during the inspection it was found that he has carried out construction of an additional first floor. 

In this connection, the panchayat has issued stop work notice under Section 64 (1) (J) Of Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994 for violating terms and conditions mentioned in the Panchayat, GCZMA NOC/permissions failing which further necessary action will be initiated as per the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.

The sarpanch also said that the panchayat has passed a resolution to keep a setback of 10 meters from the Ajoba Temple however the concerned developer also failed to maintain the setback.
