VALPOI: Social activist, Shanta Manerkar, was elected as president of Valpoi Action Committee (VAC) for 2013-15 in a general body meeting at Valpoi.
Other office bearers elected are Rabiya Shah (vice president), Vincy Gonsalves (general secretary), Sharfoddin Aga (joint secretary) and Ramdas Shirodkar (treasurer).
Other executive members are Dilshad Aga, Sanjay Rane, Santosh Manerkar, Bibi Shaikh, Sharabanu Shaikh, Noorjam Mamlekar, Sr Pramila Joao, Hemant Samant and Madhu Bhimalkar.
In a press note, Manerkar stated that she will demand with the local authorities to cover open drainage system in the town, insist to maintain cleanliness in Valpoi and support Valpoi Municipal Council in solving traffic woes.
She further stated that VAC will try to sort out problems of the common men.
