PONDA: In a third case of chain snatching since the beginning of this year, two scooter-borne culprits snatched the mangalsutra of a woman at Dharbandora, on Tuesday at 12 noon.
According to Collem Police, one Kusum Gaude was returning home from Sakorda bazaar after buying her monthly ration quota, when the culprits went over to her, put a nylon rope around her neck and tried to snatch her mangalsutra. However, the woman resisted them and during the scuffle, one of the culprits hit on her head with a hammer causing her injuries. Later, the culprits snatch her mangalsutra and fled from the scene.
The injured woman Kusum Gaude was taken to Public Health Centre, at Usgao, from where she was discharged after treatment.
The locals called 100 and the police patrolling team rushed the spot but could not nab the culprits.
Earlier, January on 5, a woman was snatched of her chin and two days later on January 7, another woman was snatched of her mangalsutra.
Locals suspect that in all the three cases of chain snatching, the same culprits are involved.
