PONDA: Two bikers snatched the mangalsutra of a woman from Curti at 9.30 am on Sunday near the Sai Service Centre, Ponda and fled from the scene.
According to the police, the bike riders stopped near one shop at Curti. The shop owner, a woman, was alone in the shop. Realising the woman was alone, one of bike riders asked for a water bottle from the woman. When the woman stepped out of her shop to give the water bottle the bike rider snatched her mangalsutra worth around Rs 1.80 lakh and rushed to his accomplice on the road. His accomplice had kept the bike running-in process and fled from the scene when his friend arrived.
The woman got confused with the sudden incident but later filed a complaint with the Ponda Police. The police later inspected the shop and said that the theft was a pre-planned robbery by the bikers.
