PONDA: Mangeshi locals on Thursday opposed the alleged illegal road construction being undertaken in the village.
The locals said that an alleged illegal construction of road is carried out by a plot developer at Mangueshi, which also passes over the main water pipeline.
“Complaints have been filed with the Ponda Deputy Collector’s office, Town and Country Planning Department (TCP), PWD Water Supply Division and Veling, Priol Cuncoliem Village Panchayat for necessary action,” they claimed.
A local resident Naresh Naik said that the plot developer has the approval of plan for construction of proposed road from the TCP. However, this approved road is shown in the property of a tenant, who has opposed it. Following this, the plot developer started construction of road from another place, other than the property for which he got an approval.
Naik said that this road is illegal and therefore the TCP should conduct inspection. If not inspected, then the property of the poor tenant will be grabbed, which is located by the side of national highway.
He also said that the plot owner has cut trees with the Forest Department’s permission on a condition that he would plant new saplings at the place where the trees are cut. However, now, he is constructing a road through it.
Naik demanded that the local panchayat, TCP and Forest Department inspect and take proper action into the matter and stop the illegal construction of road. Complaints are filed at the Ponda Deputy Collector’s office and also with the PWD to inspect the proposed illegal road which is passing over the main water pipeline.
He said, “The officials had promise to conduct an inspection but nobody is turning at the site.”
He added that the locals will file a complaint in the High Court and Vigilance Department if the concerned department officials fail to take action.
