CANACONA: A huge mango tree fell on NH66 at Partagal leaving commuters stranded for over half an hour.
High intensity winds continued to pound Canacona taluka on Monday. Most areas in the taluka remained dry. However, unable to stand the strong winds, a huge mango tree came crashing down on the NH66 road at Partagal blocking highway traffic for over an hour till it was cleared by fire and emergency crew.
In another incident a huge acacia tree fell on the generator room at the entrance of the tunnel at Gulem of the Konkan Railway. Fire fighting crew, led by sub officer Mahadev Lolienkar with the help of leading fire fighter Tulshidas Desai and Soiru Desai, fire fighters Goutham Velip and Chetan Prabhu, driver operator Lekhak Daikar, swiftly cleared both the trees they said.
