MARGAO: A car parked on Abade Faria Road sustained extensive damage on Saturday after a mango tree fell on it during heavy rainfall. The incident occurred in the afternoon, following the downpour in Margao.
According to Gil Souza, Margao Fire Station officer, a large mango tree toppled onto Abad de Faria Road prompting the fire personnel to be deployed at the scene.
He stated that one parked car was badly damaged, estimating the loss to be over Rs 1 lakh. Senior fire fighter S P Dessai responded to the call and successfully cleared the area.
In a separate incident, a tree fell onto a building in Calcondem, Margao, causing damage. Fire personnel promptly rushed to the scene and cleared the area, ensuring the safety of the surroundings.
