Mangor Hill resident arrested for growing ganja

VASCO: The Vasco Police on Friday arrested a Mangor Hill resident for growing ganja in an unguarded naval open space in Vasco. The police have seized ganja plants worth over Rs 85,000 from spot.
Samir Shaikh alias Firdos was arrested by Vasco police during the raid. The police uprooted and found a total of 428 grams of planted ganja of 5 ft 7 inches height. 
The Vasco police received a tipoff that ganja was grown at Gandhi Nagar, Vasco in the open space near the site of the naval area. Thereafter, the place was raided wherein the accused was found attending to the plants and after examination the plants were found to be ganja plants.
The accused was produced before the JMFC Vasco who released him on bail.
Meanwhile, the Vasco police inspector has informed the Navy to check on any other such plantation or suspicious activity being done in the unguarded areas of the navy. “The Vasco police will conduct investigation in the case to find out whether such activities are going on in other areas. We have also informed the naval officer to keep a strict vigil on their properties,” Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo said.
