‘Manohar Parrikar Award’ to honour talented scientists

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday announced national level ‘Manohar Parrikar Young Scientist Award’ to honour talented scientists across nation in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the field of science and technology. 

Sawant said that the scientists, below age of 35 years, will be honoured for their contribution in the field of science from 5th edition of Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav to be held next year. 

The Chief Minister was speaking while addressing the 4th edition of Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav, which is been held across seven venues in Goa. More than 5,000 students have participated in the event, which will witness some eminent speakers delivering lectures. 

“On this occasion, I want to announce that henceforth we will be giving ‘Manohar Parrikar Young Scientist Award’ to scientists across India. The award will consist of Rs 5 lakh cash prize,” Sawant said. 

“I want our Goan students to become prominent scientists and contribute in the progress of science and Goa,” he said. 

Sawant said that the State government is emphasising on quality education using the advanced scientific tools and technology.
