PANJIM: GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro on Sunday stated that many people, including those from the BJP led coalition government have approached the party for support in the forthcoming Rajya Sabha Elections.
Addressing the media, Faleiro said “Many people, including those in the BJP-led government have approached us for support in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls. We will take into confidence other parties too. It is the numbers that finally matters. Lots of people have approached us but we will discuss it in the right forum.
“Congress is trying to field a consensus candidate for upcoming RS polls. Goa has one seat for RS and the party in Goa will hold crucial meeting this week to shortlist the names that would be forwarded to Pradesh Election Committee,” said Faleiro.
“The Pradesh Election Committee will recommend the names to the party high command which will take the final call,” he said.
However, Faleiro refused to reveal the names that might be shortlisted, stating that “It will be finalised in the CLP meeting. I have discussed with senior leaders of the party like Digambar Kamat, Pratapsingh Rane and Ravi Naik. On Tuesday, we will have a CLP meeting, thereafter we will present the scenario to the Pradesh election committee and later we shall recommend the same to the high command.”
