PANJIM: Director of Fire and Emergency Services Nitin V Raikar said that some companies situated in the State have not obtained NOCs even as the department is conducting annual inspection of companies to ensure that adequate fire safety measures are in place.
Referring to the major fire that broke out in the Berge Becker paints company in the Pilerne Industrial Estate on Tuesday, Raikar said not all the companies have applied for NOC with the department. “We initially issue provisional NOC to companies before putting up fire systems and after inspection issue them final NOC only if all safety measures are in place. Many companies have obtained NOC from the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services as per the Fire Force Act, 2016 and they are approaching us for annual inspection.”
