MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza today informed that the incomplete work of Mapusa bus stand is likely to be completed in one and half month.
“The work of Mapusa bus stand is under progress. It got delayed due to labour shortage. Since COVID lockdown many labourers left for their native place. Even though there was permission to continue with development works during curfew there was a shortage of labour. The main work of soiling is completed which was a concern. We are expecting to complete the bus stand in next one and an half month”, said D’Souza.
D’Souza further said that the completion of work will also depend on the weather conditions and hoped that following new regulations after June 14 work will speed up.
It can be recalled that in February 2021, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had laid foundation stone for the Mapusa bus stand during which Mapusa MLA had said that the bus stand would be ready before the monsoons.
Meanwhile, speaking about the underground cabling in Mapusa, D’Souza said that file is pending for financial approval.
“Underground cabling file is pending for financial approval. Once the COVID situation improves it will be cleared. Since the entire project is Rs 131 crore it will have to be tendered for 11KV and 9 KV power lines for underground cabling however, execution will be done in phases manner so that people will not have to suffer” D’Souza informed.
