MAPUSA: The Mapusa Carnival Committee 2019 was constituted and they held their first meeting chaired by MMC Chief Ryan Braganza at the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) office on Monday.
It has been decided to revive and celebrate carnival in Mapusa by going as per the present trend and not going as per the traditional routine. New ideas and suggestions were sought from the members to make this year’s Carnival a great success.
The chairperson then decided to elect the committee for the year 2019. The following were unanimously elected to the Mapusa Carnival Committee 2019: MLA Francis D’Souza as chairman and convener and Ryan Braganza as vice chairman.
The other members are: Michael Carrasco (general secretary), Lenny D’Souza (Jt Secretary), Joshua D’Souza (treasurer), Nisha Mayekar (Jt treasurer), Francisco Carvalho (programme committee chairman), Marlene D’Souza (reception committee chairman), Rohan Kavelekar (infrastructure chairman); Carl D’Souza (float parade chairman) and Rajsingh Rane (publicity chairman).
