MAPUSA: Congress workers have strongly opposed the former BJP loyalist, Sudhir Kandolkar contesting the by-election on a Congress ticket in Mapusa.
A memorandum expressing resentment towards Kandolkar’s candidature was handed over to GPCC President (GPCC), Girish Chodankar at an urgent meeting held at the North Goa district office at Mapusa on Tuesday night.
The memorandum, was also ddressed to the INC President, Rahul Gandhi questioning him on how a man who has been denied a ticket from BJP stands a chance of contesting for the Congress ticket for Mapusa.
The letter raised great concern on how Congress,  is considering a man as a candidate for Mapusa By-Election who has no block or any faction supporting him within the party.
The letter questioned the INC Chief on what is the difference between the Congress and the BJP and pointed out that this was not the time to take chances on defectors, especially those who do not carry any ideology of representing the Congress. “Giving the ticket to an ‘outsider’ at this point might also alienate voters and party workers alike,”  read the letter sent by the North Goa District Committee, North Goa Block Committee and North Goa PCC. They also pointed out that Sudhir’s name wasnowhere in the list of names that went from the Congress Committee.
