Mapusa cops arrest drug peddler

MAPUSA: The Mapusa police on Sunday arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly possessing 500 grams of ganja.

According to the police, the arrest was made during a narcotic raid conducted at a parking lot, near St Jerome Church, Mapusa.

Based on reliable information, a team of Mapusa police conducted a narcotic raid at the parking lot near St Jerome Church and arrested Govind Suresh Jadhav, a resident of Gaunswado, Calangute 

Jadhav was allegedly found in illegal possession of the narcotic drug  which he had brought to deliver to a prospective customer.

An FIR under Sec tipn20 (b) (ii)(A) of NDPS Act has been registered at Mapusa Police Station.

The raid was conducted under overall supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) North Goa, Nidhin Valsan, IPS, and Mapusa Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jivba Dalvi and Mapusa Police Inspector (PI) Shitakant Nayak.

Further investigation is in progress with PSI Bablo Parab, police said.
