MAPUSA: The Colvale Police have filed a chargesheet against Mapusa Municipal Council Councillor Swapnil Shirodkar in a hill-cutting case.
An FIR was registered against the councillor around seven months ago and after investigation the charges have been framed.
“The chargesheet against the alleged accused Swapnil Shiodkar is filed under Section 17-A of Town and Country Planning Act,” Colvale Police Station Police Inspector Somnath Mahajik informed.
According to the chargesheet, the accused Swapnil Shirodkar, who is a leaseholder of the property bearing Survey No 156/1 in Camurlim village, carried out illegal hill cutting to construct a dairy farm on the property without obtaining permission from competent authorities.
Acting on the complaint, a flying squad visited the site and filed a report on the irregularities. Later, the TCP Department filed a complaint against the accused following which an FIR was lodged in the case.
