MAPUSA: Mapusa municipal fish market will continue to remain shut till Ganesh Chaturthi as 18 more fish vendors tested positive for COVID infection, on Monday.

It may be recalled that a fish vendor from Nerul, the president of the fish vendors association had tested positive for COVID on August 5, which prompted the Mapusa Municipal Council to shut the market and following which all fish vendors had to undergo tests.

Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Ryan Braganza said, “We have decided to keep the municipal fish market closed till ‘Ganeshotsav’ since 18 more fish vendors tested positive for COVID, on Monday. These vendors are not from Mapusa, but from other parts. However, as precautionary measure, the market will remain shut and will reopen only after Ganesh Chaturthi.”
