MAPUSA: After the Mapusa Municipal fish market was opened up after almost two months of lockdown on Tuesday, the fish vendors doing business in the market alleged of partiality in the allotment of space.
President of Fish Vendors Association Shashikala Govekar said that it’s better to keep the market shut since the vendors are having verbal arguments amongst each other because of allotment of space in the market.
Govekar said that the 60 vendors are allowed to sit in the market. However, out of 60, only 35 vendors are from the association and others are just randomly given space. Due to this partiality with allotment of space, the vendors are having arguments with each other.
He also informed that some of the operators have given place to their labourers due to which the local vendors are not getting opportunity to sit in the market.
