PANJIM: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, has directed the Porvorim police to register a murder offence in a case of death that happened in January 2022.
Complainant Melcy Pinto from Penha de Franca, Britona, had appealed before the Mapusa JMFC for registration of an FIR in the case of death of her father Nicolau Pinto, 59, who died on January 3, 2022 in Britona, in suspicious circumstances.
The Porvorim police had registered a case of unnatural death. Later on August 5, 2022, Melcy had filed a complaint alleging foul play into the death of her father against Liao Vaz, Flasten Martins, Esabel Rego and others.
The Porvorim police did not register an FIR after which she had approached the Mapusa JMFC seeking directions for registration of her complaint under Sections 302 (6), 448 and 201 of IPC.
The court after hearing the applicant has observed that a cognisable offence is made out in the case. Adv Vinayak Porob appeared for the complainant. JMFC Mapusa Pooja Desai has directed the Porvorim police to register an FIR and investigate into the complaint.
