PANJIM: The Mapusa Advocates Forum on Sunday held a general body meeting seeking support from advocates across Goa into an incident that saw one of their colleagues allegedly intimidated by a government officer.
The forum passed a resolution over the alleged misconduct by Panchayat’s Deputy Director Fiona Audrey Cardozo.
Advocate Sarvesh Kalangutkar has alleged that while appearing for a matter wherein he was representing Village Panchayat of Siolim-Marna, Cardozo insulted him during the discussion.
“That despite making oral statement requesting for the paper book, said Dy Director of Panchayat Fiona Audrey Cardozo in most utter and behest manner directed me to get out of the court, which is totally illegal as no officer of the Court can direct any advocate to get out of the court considering the fact that we advocates are the officers of the court,” he said in a complaint to the high court, Panchayat Minister, Chief Secretary, Advocates Forum-Mapusa and others. The advocate has sought action against her.
