MAPUSA: Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Shubhangi Vaigankar on Wednesday tendered her resignation from the post of Chairperson.

Vaigankar said that there are no specific reasons for her resignation.”I tendered resignation on personal grounds. There was no pressure as such, but the MLA wanted to give a chance to another councillor to be the chairperson and had asked me to resign. But since there were pending works, I continued holding the post till all the works were completed. I am with the party and this step was taken after having talks with the party,” Vaigankar said.

Vaigankar further said that the rumours about moving no confidence against her are false. “I desire to work for Mapusa and if I get a chance, I will continue to work for Mapusa,” Vaigankar added.

Vaigankar said that during her tenure, she took up work of around Rs 20 crore, including Rs 85 lakh worth work under the Municipality fund. She said that she bought funds under different schemes.
