Mapusa Municipal Labourers Await Revised Wages for Four Months, Questions Raised Over Delay

Labourers of the Mapusa Municipal Council have alleged that they have not been paid their revised wages for the past four months, triggering strong resentment and questions over administrative inaction.

The workers pointed out that while their wage hike was approved, the enhanced payments have yet to be disbursed. They have expressed frustration that other municipal councils, including Bicholim and Mormugao, have already released the revised payments to their labourers.

Questioning the delay, the affected workers asked why the Mapusa Municipal Council has failed to implement the wage revision despite other councils complying with the same policy. They said the prolonged non-payment has caused financial hardship for many families who depend solely on these earnings.

Labour representatives have urged the municipal authorities to immediately release the pending payments and ensure parity with other municipal councils. They warned that continued delay could lead to protests if the issue is not resolved at the earliest.
