Mapusa Police Arrest Madhya Pradesh Native in Mumbai for Alleged Kidnapping of Minor Girl

Mapusa Police has apprehended a 21-year-old native of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, identified as Akshay Manohar Tayde, on charges of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl from a girls’ hostel within Mapusa Police Station’s jurisdiction.

According to statements from SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, the incident was reported on January 7th, 2023, when the warden of the girls’ hostel lodged a complaint about the disappearance of the minor girl. She was reported missing after she left for shopping in Mapusa Market during the afternoon but failed to return.

Mapusa Police registered an FIR under sections 363 IPC and Sec 8 of the Goa Children’s Act. Under the guidance of SDPO Dalvi, PI Shitakant Nayak assembled teams to gather intelligence on the involved parties. The investigative efforts led to the discovery that the accused individual was traveling with the victim girl.

SDPO Dalvi initiated contact with Mumbai Police, leading to their collaboration. Subsequently, Mumbai Police deployed personnel in Navpada, Mumbai, and, after comprehensive human and technical efforts, successfully traced and apprehended both the victim and the accused.

The investigative team comprised PSI Sunil Patil, PSI Gaurav Naik, HC Sushant Chopdekar, PC Rajesh Kandolkar, Prakash Polekar, and LPC Siddhi Harmalkar, all from Mapusa Police Station. Tayde is currently in police custody, pending further legal proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing under the supervision of PI Shitakant Nayak, SDPO Jivba Dalvi, and SP North Nidhin Valsan, IPS, as they work towards resolving the case.
