Mapusa police book two rape cases, one arrested

MAPUSA: In one of the two rape cases registered by the Mapusa Police on Wednesday, a Verla Canca resident has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor.

MAPUSA: In one of the two rape cases registered by the Mapusa Police on Wednesday, a Verla Canca resident has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor. 
According to Mapusa police, in the first case, the parents of Class II student filed a complaint against a 30-year-old accused one Rehman, a resident of Verla Canca for allegedly raping their daughter. The incident took place on Sunday around 6 pm when the girl was playing outside her house, when the accused came and took her on his bike at an unknown place and allegedly raped her. 
An hour later, he left the girl and allegedly threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone or else he will kill her. 
Meanwhile, when the girl’s parents went searching for her, by that time, the accused had dropped her at the place where she was playing. When the girl reached out to her mother, she started crying and later revealed the incident to her parents. The Mapusa police later arrested the accused after confirming the same.
In another incident, a Sodiem-Siolim resident is alleged to have raped a girl from Camurlim on the pretext of marrying her and later left her after learning about her pregnancy. 
According to sources, the issue came to limelight when the victim went to accused’s house and complained to his mother.  Later, the girl filed a complaint with the Mapusa police. Further investigations are underway.
