MAPUSA: Keeping safety and security measures ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi in mind, SDPO Jivba Dalvi organised a joint meeting of Sarvajanik Ganesh mandals coming under the jurisdiction of the Mapusa Police.
Representatives of various committees were briefed about the measures to be adopted during the festive season.
Dalvi along with PI Mapusa PI Sitakant Nayak, Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai and Colvale PI Vijay Rane advised the representatives of various Ganesh mandals about the dos and don’ts.
The Sarvajanik Ganesh mandals have been directed resort to measures like installation of CCTVs to monitor the movement of visitors, arrangement for proper fire fighting equipment, proper access and illumination during the time of immersion. The committees were also advised not to burst crackers at late nights and early mornings inorder to prevent fire incidents.
Dalvi also asked the organisers to issue identification badges to all its members, volunteers and submit the list to all local police stations and added that patrolling would be intensified in the area as there are 11 Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals under its jurisdiction.
“Cops will be deployed at every Saravajanik Ganesh Mandal inorder to maintain a strict vigil,” said Dalvi and advised the representatives not to obstruct vehicular traffic and avoid bursting of crackers on the day of immersion so that public are not inconvenienced.
