The various authorities have increased the safety and security measures in Mapusa ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. Mapusa police held a meeting with the organising committee of Sarvajanik Ganesh mandals under their jurisdiction at Mapusa Police station on Friday.
Representatives from the mandals were briefed about measures to be adopted. Mapusa Police Inspector Kapil Nayak advised the representatives what they should do and what they should avoid doing.
“We briefed them about the security measures and precautions to be taken during the Ganesh festival. They have been directed to take measures likes maintaining proper access, arrangements for fire-fighting equipment, installation of CCTV cameras, avoid bursting fire crackers in public places. Volunteers have been asked to remain present round the clock along with the police personnel on duty. No doubt, the day and night patrolling will be carried out by us with more intensity,” said Nayak.
