MAPUSA: The Mapusa police conducted a drive to check tenant verification compliance at Verla-Canca and detained 36 labourers who had not filed their verification forms.
A team led by Mapusa PI Paresh Naik conducted the special drive, in a bid to curb the illegal stay of migrants on rent at Verla-Canca and during this drive, 36 labourers were detained along with their contractors or supervisors. Their tenant verification forms were filled out after verifying their identities and their supervisors were warned of strict action if they failed to comply in the future.
This is the second such drive conducted by the Mapusa police. Earlier, the police had detained 14 migrants staying in Cunchelim, Duler and Karaswada area for staying without verification.
